Trump and a Scam from the Republican National Committee

I started this post a couple of weeks ago, then left it in draft status. With Trump suddenly begging for money, pieces fall into place now.

A while back, he was talking like a gangster to the Republican National Committee:

They better get going. Because I’ll tell you what, you’re gonna have a rough July at that convention. You better get going, and you better straighten out the system because the people want their vote, the people want to vote and they want to be represented properly.

Just minutes after reading that news article, I opened a piece of mail from the RNC that said “Check enclosed” on the outside. That was just the beginning of the lies in the mailing.

Here’s part of the check. I cropped the picture to leave out my personal information, but as you can see, it’s made out TO the Republican National Committee.

Fake check from Republican National Committee

Actually, it isn’t a check at all. The fine print says, “THIS CHECK IS A FACSIMILE. NOT REDEEMABLE OR NEGOTIABLE AND HAS NO CASH VALUE.” So “Check enclosed” was a complete lie.

The letter that came with it started with a bigger lie: “The Republican National Committee needs you to immediately renew your membership for 2016 if Republicans are to win back the White House and defeat Hillary Clinton.” I don’t have a membership in the RNC and never have. The letter continues with repeated references to my non-existent membership.

They’ve done even worse things to other people, like sending bogus notices of delinquency to people who don’t give them money. I’m no lawyer, but that sounds like the kind of fraud people should go to jail for.

It’s a scam, but it reflects their desperation. No one’s giving them money. They’re hoping to trick people into renewing non-existent memberships or paying fake bills. Trump and the RNC deserve each other.
